Developing Instrumental Excellence

Weekly Ensembles

Over 55% of students are involved in Music via choirs, ensembles or individual lessons, provided by our outstanding team of Music Teachers.

The School boasts an outstanding team of visiting Music Teachers, providing tuition in all Orchestral Instruments, Singing, Harp, Piano, Organ, Percussion and Drum Kit, Highland Pipes and Military Snare, and Guitar (Classical, Electric/Acoustic and Bass). Lessons are typically 40 minutes (60 minute lessons are available).

A broad range of weekly ensembles are offered including Senior Orchestra and Wind Band. It is here the girls learn the vital building blocks of ensemble musicianship and grow in confidence as musicians before stepping up to the School’s more senior ensembles. We have an eclectic range of Chamber Ensembles including Jazz Group, Brass Ensemble, Vocal Consort and Chamber Ensemble for students to get involved in. Here girls work on a broad repertoire, they benefit from experiencing seminal orchestral work, through to arrangements of film scores and musical theatre, jazz and popular music. Repertoire is often chosen to challenge and stretch the girls whilst still working within the strengths of the ensemble and as a result, the girls often feedback how much they enjoy being part of a team working on such enjoyable music.

Music combines serious academic study with something I am passionate about - it's a perfect combination.
