Years LVI - UVI (Sixth Form) Key Stage 5
The curriculum in the Sixth Form, for girls aged 16 to 18 years capitalises on the strengths and interests of each student and girls can choose from 29 different subjects. Providing in-depth study in selected subjects, Sixth Form at Queen Margaret's is designed to prepare girls for their A Level examinations and life beyond the School.
To align options with abilities, interests and future aspirations, staff guide the selection of A Level subjects and timetables are built around their choices, wherever possible.
Girls usually select three subjects to take to A Level. Depending on other commitments girls may choose to take a fourth subject. Choices include Art: Fine Art, Art: Photography, Art: Textile Design, Art: Graphic Design, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Classical Greek, Drama and Theatre, Economics, English Language and Literature, English Literature, Geography, History, History of Art, Latin, Mandarin (for native speakers), Mathematics, Further Mathematics, MFL: French, MFL: Spanish, Music, Philosophy and Ethics, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology and the Extended Project Qualification. We also offer Leiths professional cookery course and the Sport’s Leaders Award.
