Queen Margaret’s is a non selective school

How to Apply

Our assessment process is designed to identify girls who are able to benefit from our well-rounded academic offering, as well as our diverse enrichment programme, and able to make a positive contribution towards the life of the School.

Before you embark on your QM journey, see what our staff and students have to say about life at QM here - A Day In The Life at QM.

Registration

All applications to the School begin with a Registration Form, which you can download below. Upon receipt of this Registration Form, together with a non-refundable registration fee of £100 and a copy of your daughter’s passport and recent school report, our Admissions Team will be in touch with you to confirm the start of your daughter’s application to join Queen Margaret’s in her chosen academic year.

Taster Visit

If you have not already had the chance to visit our rural campus then this is the perfect opportunity to do so: all registered UK applicants are invited to take part in a Taster Visit for the complete QM experience.

Throughout their Taster Visit, girls will be paired with a student in her year group and have the opportunity to take part in lessons, lunchtime clubs and after-School activities. If you are looking at Sixth Form in particular, A Level subject choices are also taken into account when designing the outline of the day.

For more information, please contact the Admissions Team: admissions@queenmargarets.com.

Assessment & Interview

Once registered, you will be invited to join us for our next Assessment and Scholarship Days. These days are traditionally an opportunity for girls to meet their future fellow classmates and get a taster of the School day, with the assessments, group tasks and interviews with a member of the Senior Leadership Team forming a crucial part of the application process.

No specific preparation for the entrance assessments is needed; all candidates start on an equal footing, with identical opportunities to display their potential. If you are interested in applying for a Scholarship, we will ask for a reference from the Head of your daughter’s current school; more information can be found on our Scholarships page.

Offer of a Place

Offers for the following academic year are made within the weeks following our Assessment Days and communicated via letter from our Admissions Team. All decisions pertaining to offers and scholarships are made at the Head’s discretion.

Your offer letter will be accompanied by an Acceptance Form and a copy of our Terms and Conditions; to accept the offer, all parties with parental responsibility for the applicant must sign and return the completed form with the deposit of £500 to the Admissions Team before the date specified in the offer letter.

On occasion, we are able to consider a late application after the Assessment Day, and separate arrangements for this can be made. Please contact the Admissions Team to discuss your application: admissions@queenmargarets.com

For more information on the assessment process and the selection criteria, including an outline of the assessments and our process for late applications (after January of the preceding academic year), our Admissions Policy can be downloaded here.

After QM I graduated from Loughborough University and now work at a prestigious advertising agency. I wouldn’t be in the same position had I not received a bursary to attend QM and, for this, I am forever grateful.
