Christmas 2021 at Queen Margaret's
A Christmas Roundup
Published 17th December 2021
Christmas is a special time at Queen Margaret's. While we may not be 100% back to the pre-pandemic normal, and while we've adapted to ever-changing circumstances, we've still marked the festive season in true QM style.
Christmas jumper day and Christmas lunch
On our last day of term in school, the fabulous QM Catering Team pulled out all the stops and treated us to a delicious Christmas lunch! With the girls and staff wearing Christmas jumpers, it was the most festive way to end the autumn/winter term.
The Queen Margaret's Christmas trees
As ever, we had a fantastic selection of Christmas trees all around the school, many of which were grown on site. And that's not to mention the wonderful array of Christmas decorations to get us all in the festive spirit. Our thanks go to the Estates and Housekeeping Teams, as well as everybody else who helps make Christmas what it is at QM.
Christmas virtual music events
Due to the very recent changes in the UK Covid response, sadly we felt that a series of live music events at the end of term would not be in the best interests of the QM Family.
Therefore, we've seen a mammoth sprint by the Music Department and our music students during the last weeks of term to record all of the music that you would have heard at the Christmas Concert and the Festival of Lessons and Carols.
You can tune in to watch both of these events on our Christmas Events webpage!
They will premiere live at the times below, but you can also watch them anytime after the event.
19:00, Friday 17th December. Christmas Concert.
11:00, Saturday 18th December. Festival of Lessons and Carols.
Staff vs students hockey
"Our annual hockey match got underway with an enthusiastic staff team meeting on the astro. The atmosphere was lovely. The girls team amalgamated at the front of school, donned in their red capes with Christmas music and singing as they came out to the pitch. They were all dressed up in Christmas attire and how lovely it was to see them smiling and enjoying themselves... what a year group they are - brilliant!"

Cottages Christmas dinner
The Upper Sixth Form girls enjoyed their last Christmas dinner together as part of the annual Christmas dinner night.
It was a wonderful celebration of friendship and love, with some fantastic decorations provided by our Housekeeping Team. The beautiful wooden snowmen were handmade by Lynne Paylor, who has now been with the school for over 21 years!
Eco-conscious Christmas
QM's Environment Prefect Hattie (UVI) gave us some fantastic tips on environmentally-friendly stocking fillers.

Christmas card competition
Every year we hold a Christmas card competition. Staff and students are all welcome to enter, and we think you'll agree, there was some fantastic creativity this year with our winners!
SILO 2021
At the end of November 2021, as many girls returned home for November Leave Out (Exeat), our Stay in for Leave Out students took part in a weekend full of exciting trips and activities.
Christmas was very much in the air as December was fast approaching. The girls visited Manchester Christmas Markets, an inflatable theme park, the Palace Theatre, a bowling alley, and more!
