Guest Masterclasses with RNCM Vocal Tutor
Sandra Dugdale Visits QM
Published 11th March 2022
Queen Margaret's was lucky enough to welcome Mrs Sandra Dugdale on Monday to give vocal masterclasses to our A Level singers and Choral Scholars.
Sandra has been a Senior Vocal Tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music for over 25 years and is one of the most sought-after sopranos of her generation.
All of our students visibly grew in confidence during their sessions with Sandra, and we all gained valuable knowledge on vocal trills, how to cheat when you can't roll your R's, singing in Italian, and ornamentation in Baroque Arias.
Rhiannon (Year II) had the opportunity to work on German Lieder, Allegra (UVI) brought us Mozart's Ridente La Calma, Abbie (LVI) performed Handel's Lascia Ch'io PIanga, and Yanni (Year V) performed Handel's Oh, Had I Jubal's Lyre.
Our UVI A Level students, Connie and Ava, are hard at work towards their upcoming live A Level recitals, and it was a pleasure to provide them with this once-in-a-lifetime experience as part of the support we offer them at QM.
