West Side Story
Based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story is a vibrant, emotional, exciting and powerful all-time musical favourite. Passion, tragedy, and a heart-wrenching storyline all have the audience feeling emotional and mesmerised from the start. Gang warfare, poverty, racial prejudice and the generation gap can all be applied to any inner city anywhere in the world and this is what makes this piece of theatre so popular.
Set on the streets of New York, with a stunning Leonard Bernstein score, it has been said that West Side Story was the first of a new genre of musicals that encapsulated traditional themes with more gritty, darker elements providing thought-provoking storytelling.
This phenomenal QM cast has been rising to the challenge of the street-tough intensity and the performance demands of such an all-singing, all-dancing and emotional musical. There is plenty of new blood running through the veins of this production and many of our girls have stepped up to play these demanding roles to great effect.
West Side Story runs nightly from the 21-23 November in The Chapman Theatre. To book tickets email firstname.lastname@example.org.
