Getting Ready for Sixth Form
Sixth Form Preparation
Published 28th January 2022
This week we have been introducing our Year V students and their parents to the QM Sixth Form. We've seen parent meetings, presentations, and lots of recent student engagement between LVI and Year V.
Meetings (both in-person and virtual) gave parents the opportunity to learn about the 30 different subjects on offer in Sixth Form, as well as our outstanding A Level results, the Extended Project Qualification, personalised support, university placements, independent living in the final year, personal tutors, and the many enrichment and leadership opportunities available.
Live Presentation & Conference
We also gave a talk today - "Options & Life in the Sixth Form" - presented by Head Sue Baillie, Senior Key Stage 4 Tutor Mary Griffin, Senior Key Stage 5 Tutor Claire Nadin, and Director of Academic Administration David Free.
This talk covered the range of qualifications, how to choose what's right for you, Sixth Form boarding, and enrichment activities. You can watch this talk again here (skip to 13 minutes for the start of the talk).
Over the next three weeks, Lower Sixth students have and will be welcoming girls from Year V to the Cloisters common room for breakfast coffee and pastries, and to share their experiences of Sixth Form.
In a teacher-free zone, they will be able to have open and honest talks about life in the QM Sixth Form, including what they love and what challenges they face.
"I really enjoyed getting to know the Year V girls better and it was gratifying to share my personal experiences of VI Form."- Charlotte (LVI)
"It was really nice talking to older girls in such a relaxed setting. Getting to hear what they think of VI Form will be so helpful for next year. I also liked seeing some of Cloisters and the coffee and croissants were a nice touch!" - Georgina (Year V)

One of the mantras of QM is that we help get our girls ready for life, whatever their calling.
We firmly believe that our Sixth Form offers a truly unique experience, and is a real bedrock for success. We are always happy to share what the QM Sixth Form experience is all about!
