Horse Riding Success for Isabella
Congratulations to Isabella (Year III) for continued success in riding, qualifying for the World Cup Young Rider after completing a 120 km endurance race - fantastic news! Isabella is currently ranked 20th in the FEI World Ranking for Endurance Young Riders.
"I did another FEI Junior 2 stars, 120 km endurance race and successfully qualified for WCYR (World Cup Young Rider) as the first Chinese young rider.
This horse is called Xarifa. She's 8 years old and very new to endurance races. I started the race at 6:45 and ended at 8. It should be shorter than this, but because it was really raining, the road was full of water and rocky mountain roads ( the most difficult race in Spain)."
Tennis
The U14 tennis team won their fixture convincingly on Saturday afternoon and coped well with the hot and windy conditions. Some excellent rallies and competitive tennis ahead of some girls playing in Eton at the end of June.
The final score was a win at 9-0. Thank you to Issy and Amelia who stepped in at short notice to play against an extra couple.
Great Britain Hockey
On Sunday 4th June, a group of keen hockey players made their way to London to watch Great Britain Men's and Women's Teams play against Belgium in the International Hockey Federation Pro League.
This was hosted at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, a stadium used for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Due to some train issues, we missed some of the Men's game, but caught a riveting end in which the GB Men, unfortunately, lost the battle 3-2.
Then it was onto the Women's game after some quick autographs and photo opportunities. The GB Ladies fought hard but could not get the goals leaving the score 3-0 to Belgium.
On our walk back to the train station, the students took part in a scavenger hunt to try and identify all the other Olympic stadiums and a quick look across the River Lee for the West Ham home ground too.
A great day was had by all who came home very tired, not too sunburnt, and inspired by the great hockey on display.
