Leeds Rhinos vs Loughborough Lightning
On Friday Evening, 12 girls joined us to watch Leeds Rhinos vs Loughborough Lightning in the Netball Super League at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
We had the exciting opportunity to be Guards of Honour for the teams coming out - the person most excited about this experience was certainly Mrs Rastall! We then all got to sit and watch the game where we saw some high-quality netball.
At the end of the match, we got to have a team picture with the squad and spent time going around and getting signatures from the players. We look forward to hopefully running this trip again next year!

Hockey Success for Francesca
Francesca (Year III) had a busy Easter holiday of hockey playing. She represented the City of York Girls U14s in the Supra League Finals at Nottingham University. They were one of the top 8 teams in the country and the best team in the North!
Here are some photos from England Hockey Tier 1 Plate National finals 2023 against Alderley Edge.
Riding Success for Isabella
Over the past month, Isabella (Year III) has been very busy with her horse riding. She has been touring the continent competing in four Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Endurance horse riding races - a fantastic achievement.
Isabella told us more:
"The first race was on the 8th of April in Lugo, Spain - the FEI Junior 100km 1*. I finished in 2nd position and became the first Chinese competitor to reach the top 3 podium.
The second race was on the 16th of April in Šamorín, Slovakia - the FEI Adults 100km 1*. I finished in 6th position.
The third race was on the 22nd of April in Carmona, Spain - the FEI Junior 120km 2*. I finished in 3rd and was the first Chinese competitor to finish this race.
The fourth race was on the 13th of May in Estremoz, Portugal - the FEI Junior 120km 2*. It's also the Portugal Young Riders Championships. I finished in 7th position.
Overall, I was the highest-ranking FEI young rider in the Endurance race from China, and the 39th FEI World Young Riders in the endurance race.
It's a challenge to continually finish four races endurance races. Also, I used four different horses that I had ridden before."
Endurance is a long-distance competition against the clock, testing the speed and endurance of a horse and challenging the rider over their effective use of pace, thorough knowledge of their horse’s capabilities, and the ability to cross all kinds of terrain. Although the rides are timed, the emphasis is on finishing in good condition rather than coming in first.
QM is proud to see girls riding at such a high level outside of school.
Continued Lacrosse Success for QM Students
It's great to have QM girls playing and training at such a high level outside of school, taking part in the England Lacrosse Regional Academy and Scotland Lacrosse. Lacrosse talent obviously runs in these two families of sisters below!
Olivia (Year V) - U17 England Lacrosse Regional Academy. Training in Manchester with the aim to get into the National Academy.
Isabel (Year V) - U17 England Lacrosse Regional Academy.
Elsa Scott (Year V) - U19A Scotland Lacrosse. Gaining 5th Cap for Scotland over Easter. She has also been selected as a non-travelling reserve for the U21 European Champs this summer.
Celia (Year III) - U18 Scotland Development Squad.
Well done all!

ROUNDERS: U12s vs The Joseph Rowntree School
Score: Won 12 - 11
Player of the Match: Akosua (Year I)
In their first rounders fixture for Queen Margaret's, the Year I team headed to the other side of York to take on The Joseph Rowntree School.
The players had been practising just that morning and this was evident in their batting, but their fielding was the star of the show- catching out 7 of the 9 players in the Jo Ro team during their second inning.
Several full-rounders were scored, especially by Polly Whitfield, but Akosua managed to steal the Player of the Match title with her tactical decisions in both positions. Well done all!

TENNIS: U13 A vs Malton
Score: Lost 5-1
The tennis team of Paula, Izzy, Harriet and Sadie travelled away to Malton for their first competition in the LTA Youth Schools Tennis League. The match included every participant playing both singles and doubles matches, and for some, this was to be their first-ever singles experience.
All played very well and were very professional as there are no umpires; the team has to call the score out, call the lines, all the while playing their matches! It was very unlucky to lose two matches on tie breaks, which are introduced after 6 games all. The matches took over two hours which shows how competitive they were, and it was super to see our team improving throughout. Well played.

TENNIS: Group Fixtures vs Ryedale School
U12/U13
Score: Draw 3-3
Our team of Heidi, Bronwyn, Louise and Maddie played in their first singles and doubles matches this season. It was so close that it was a draw. Well done on their first-ever singles matches, coming out with some wins and lots of experience in gameplay. Well done.
U14/U15
Score: Win 5-1
Miwa, Lucy, Olivia and Hannah represented our U14/U15 team in the LTA Youth Schools tennis. All played singles, to begin with, and they played well to go 3-1 up. In the doubles, both pairs came out with wins to make it a 5-1 win. A good standard of tennis was on display at Queen Margaret's that day.
U15 Doubles
On Thursday, with all the other games of tennis being played, our U15s enjoyed some friendly doubles play v Ryedale. It was very good to see all our tennis courts full of smiling happy faces, embracing the summer term with competitive play.
England Netball Youth Camps
England Netball is hosting a series of Netball Youth Camps this May half term. They have 3 camps on 2 different dates of the holiday. All the camps are fun and development-based, with plenty of games and match-play opportunities throughout the day for ages 9-14 years old.
