Weekend Boarding Activities

Published 4th May 2022

Last weekend saw lots of activities for our boarding houses.

With internal exams looming, the girls in Winnie's House were hard at work revising, but they also found time to unwind.

Here is a write up of their weekend by Noomi (Year V).

"This weekend, my friends and I went to York and got some food at Wagamama, then got a coffee and sat in the park.

We took the bus back to school and when we arrived at school we quickly put down our stuff and got into the next activity - yoghurt bark making. We put some yoghurt on a baking sheet and added our own toppings, strawberries, chocolate and loads of other goods, then we put our yoghurt in the freezer.

On Saturday night we had a switch tournament, we all played mario kart and played board games.

Sunday was a very chill day, we studied and then made a time capsule, writing letters and adding pictures or shirts with our signatures. It was a great quiet weekend, very nice a calming during the exam stress."

To take a break from their focus, they also made 'frozen yoghurt bark' as a healthy snack to keep their brains working.

Meanwhile, Atholl House had a fun Saturday evening painting pottery.

Meanwhile, the LVI went out for a meal at The Drovers Arms in Skipwith.

Red House spent Sunday at an interactive inflatable park. One of the girls from Red House told us about her weekend:

"This weekend, Years I to IV went on a shopping trip to Meadowhall, then after we went to Air Haus.

This was a big inflatable course with slides, a maze, and this big drop were you fell onto an airbag. We all had a lot of fun and all got very sweaty from running and bouncing.

If you did not come then I would recommend going sometime, because we all had a lot of fun!!

The weekend was rounded off with a lovely Choral Evensong service featuring our Chamber Choir. This preceded their Monday Choral Evensong performance at Durham Cathedral.
