Welcome to the new year from Miss Bale

What a great start to the new year, seeing lots of girls out and enjoying sports. In particular, it has been lovely to see the seniors approaching Wednesday afternoon sport with such positivity and enthusiasm.

A big shout out to Ellie (UVI) for her Ellierobics session using her new mic.

To the girls
- with lots of fixtures coming up this term, please make sure you are coming to training sessions and taking the opportunity to come to clubs at lunchtimes and after school. It is really important to be available for Saturday afternoon fixtures - if you are not available, let the Sports Department know as soon as possible.

Good luck to all the girls in the netball fixtures this weekend against Ampleforth.

Sports Fixtures

Tuesday 11th January

NETBALL - Mavericks A vs Haxby 3

Both teams started out strong, each being within 2 points of the other. Unfortunately, at half time Haxby came onto the court stronger and pulled away for a final score of 40-25.

There were some superb interceptions from Emily (UVI) and great feeds into the circle from Eva (UVI), gaining her the Player of the Match title.

Mavericks A will be back in action again on Monday against Hemingbrough Hawks.

NETBALL - Mavericks B vs Rawcliffe Renegades

The Mavericks B had their first match back of the year on Tuesday evening. The team was nervous after not having played over Christmas, but they were raring to go.

They started well and put up a good fight against Rawcliffe Renegades with some fantastic defending from Harriette (Year V) and Luisa (LVI). As the match went on, there were some great goals scored by Elsa (Year IV), despite some rough play and depleting energy.

The girls fought on and worked well to link passes through to Megan (LVI), who gave a great performance in Centre. The girls defended tightly, but overall Rawcliffe was the stronger side and walked away with the victory.

Other sporting news

QM's Sports Prefect Ellie (UVI) led another session of her Ellierobics, with a new microphone to help her out.

Ellierobics exercise session

Elsewhere, Halsey (Year II) did three hours of walking every day for a week during the holidays with her mum and dog!

Francesca (Year II) and her friend attended North Yorkshire Hockey training, but after arriving were told the session had been cancelled due to the pitch being frozen. You can see the white pitch in the background here!

And finally, in the gym, here's Ellie practising some TRX, and Evie (UVI) who smashed her personal best on the leg press machine - over 100KG for 15 reps!
