Six U13 girls played in the Pocklington School Tennis Tournament on Thursday. The group stages started with 25-minute games, and you had to complete as many as possible; the games added up throughout. Pocklington was our first opposition. Each pair played against their respective pair, and the scores added up to make a team score. It was 5 points for a win, 3 for a draw, and 1 if you lost but got half the score of the opposition. We managed to score 9 points against Pocklington.

Up next was Ashville, and we scored 15 points against them. We then met a very strong GSAL team, who had some excellent players, and despite playing well, the team could not outplay them, resulting in a loss.

Through to the Shield competition as 2nd place in our pool was a fantastic achievement already. The next opponents were St Peters, which finished in a score of 7 for QM and 10 for St Peters, but it was a well-fought, close set of matches, with all 3 pairs doing exceptionally well and keeping the scores very close.

Onto the 3rd place play-off against Hymers, the team was determined and had really started to believe in their abilities. They were playing some brilliant doubles tennis. 3 wins against Hymers secured the team 3rd place in the Shield Competition.

Well done to all the players and thank you to our parent spectators. It was a wonderful day, and there was a fantastic display of tennis. Big shout-out to Una, Lola, Suzanne, Jasmine, Sophia, and Martha.

Equestrian Success for Martha

We’re delighted to share some recent equestrian achievements from Martha Cussins, who has had a busy and successful few weeks competing across the country.

Over the Easter break, Martha took part in the prestigious Pony of the Year Show at Arena UK, where she delivered an outstanding performance, winning two classes with her pony, Gucci. This is a fantastic accomplishment at such a competitive event.

More recently, Martha qualified for the JC/JD class at the Royal Highland Show after placing third in a qualifier with her pony, Bing. This is an excellent result and we wish Martha all the best as she prepares for the next stage of the competition.

Well done, Martha; we look forward to following your continued success!
