Match Reports

Monday 17th March – Tennis

Fixture: National Championships LTA Youth Schools Tennis vs. Ampleforth
Report:
On Monday, we welcomed Ampleforth for the National Championship tennis match, where a team of four had to play best-of-three sets in singles and doubles. The standard of play was excellent, with all players showing their skills in all matches. Elsa (U6), Miwa (L6), Celia (Y5), and Ildiko (Y4) should be very proud of their hard work, losing their matches, which were very close. It does now mean that the summer term of tennis is fast approaching. Well played, all.

Wednesday 19th March – Netball

Fixture: 1st VII vs. Pocklington
Result: Won 22-19
Player of the Match: Freya Fawcett
Report by Harriet Wilson (UVI):
On Wednesday 19th March, the 1st Netball team headed to Pocklington for our last match before our final tournament next Wednesday. After a slow start to the first quarter, we managed to turn over a lot of balls in the centre court, putting us ahead. The tensions began to rise towards the end of the second quarter, where the opposition caught up to us with a one-goal difference. However, we continued playing our game, and again, with some lovely turnovers, we brought the score back. There were some lovely shots coming from the attack as well as some beautiful interceptions from the defence.

As we had no subs, we began to get tired in the final quarter; however, we pushed right until the end, coming out with a good win, with the final score being 22-19. The team is looking forward to playing in the last tournament of the season, currently undefeated, but we will face some tough teams such as RGS Newcastle and Woodhouse Grove.
