Fixture: QM Mavericks A v Northern Devils
Score: Lost 46-51
Player of the Match: Harriet (UVI)

QM Mavericks A were thankful their away fixture was indoors. They faced Division 1 newcomers Northern Devils, who were the unbeaten winners of Division 2 last season. Both teams were evenly matched, as the first quarter ended in an 11-11 draw.

The following quarters continued in the same way, with both teams scoring on their centres or forcing turnovers. With the A team trailing by one goal going into the final quarter, it was all to play for. However, a couple of lost balls by Mavericks A gave Northern the opportunity to sneak ahead and seal the win. Unlucky, As!

Wednesday 27th November

Netball
Fixture: QM Mavericks B v York City Cannons
Score: Won 49-43
Player of the Match: Emily (IV)

QM Mavericks B hosted their second encounter against York City Cannons. When these two sides met at the start of the season, Cannons beat the B team convincingly. Since then, the Bs have worked hard to improve their game awareness and team play. So, when the Mavericks B went ahead by one goal after the first quarter, they knew it would be a highly competitive match.

With the B team clutching their one-goal lead after three quarters, the last 15 minutes proved crucial. As the minutes ticked by, a feisty contest ensued as the opposition looked for opportunities to force turnovers. However, the Bs dug in and held on to secure the win. Well done!

Wednesday 27th November

Hockey
Fixture: 1st XI vs Hymers 2nd XI
Score: 3-2 Win
Player of the Match: Bobble P (III)

On Wednesday, the 1st XI travelled to Hymers. The game was full of energy and effort, resulting in a 2-1 lead at half-time, with goals scored by Bobble (III) and Isabel B (V).

In the final quarter, the team briefly lost their footing, allowing two sneaky goals. However, with a great assist from Harriet (UVI), Olivia (UVI) scored an unstoppable goal in the last three seconds, making the final result 3-2. (Report by Pippa C, UVI).
