Match Reports and Results

Hockey

U12 A vs Pocklington
Score: 0-8 Loss
POM: Mimi O (I) & Issy J (I)
Last Saturday, we played an amazing match against an amazing team (Pocklington). We played a feisty and fierce match, but overall, Pock had a deserving win with the score being 0-8. Estelle played well and got a deserving Player of the Match. We had a strong form and great tackling skills, but next week at Ashville, we need to try and pass a bit. (Isolde F (I))

Hockey

U12 B vs Pocklington
Score: 0-6 Loss
POM: Eilidh McP (I)
On Saturday, we lost 0-6 to Pocklington. Eilidh did an excellent job in her first time as a goalkeeper, and that hard work paid off as she was chosen as Player of the Match. We were great at finding space when it came to passing, but we needed to work on marking and tackling skills. Overall, we played as best as we could, and Pocklington did deserve the win. We thank all the teachers for letting us have the opportunity to play this amazing match. (Eilidh McP(I))

Hockey

U13 A vs Pocklington School
Score: 0-6 Loss
POM: Lola F (II) & Betsy B (II)
Player of the Match: Lola
On Saturday, the U13A team played against Pocklington School at Queen Margaret’s. It was a really hard game against tough opposition, but we tried our best.

We were a bit nervous in the first half, but by the time we got to the second half, we were feeling more confident and our passing was improving. We had some great shots on goal in the second half, and Una was good at finding attacking space, but unfortunately, we didn’t get any goals because their goalkeeper was so good.

It was a very defensive game, and Ariana was really quick and strong with her tackling in defence. Betsy also made some amazing saves.

We have learnt some lessons which will help us in our next fixture, which is a tournament later this week. We are going to focus on our communication, accurate passes to our players, and supporting each other throughout the game. - Martha W(II)

Hockey

U13 B
Score: 2-2 Draw
POM: Phoebe S (II)
The U13B team did really well in the match. The score was 2-2, with them scoring first and then us. Mimi scored both the goals and it was a very good match overall. I think the whole team can agree that the defence was really good, and there were some excellent saves by Siena, the goalkeeper. - Phoebe Smith (II)

Lacrosse

U18 North Schools Lacrosse Tournament
Result: 5th place overall

Hockey

U15 Area Hockey Tournament
Scores: 1-0 W vs Manor School, 1-2 Loss vs Tadcaster Grammar
POM: Emily R (IV) & Harriet J (IV)
In the first match, we started off strong with a great pass from Heidi S (IV) to Martha C (IV), where Martha deflected it into the goal, getting us 1-0 up. The defenders were doing great wide passes to clear the ball. This was a great match against Manor School.

Next, we had Tadcaster Grammar School. We started off strong with Grace S (IV), Harriet J (IV), Sadie H (IV), and Phoebe B (IV) doing a great job of defending and keeping the opposition out. Evie G (IV) made a great ball to Martha, who then passed to Emily, who, with a big hit, scored! Tadcaster then came back strong, and Bronwyn G (IV) made some great saves, but unfortunately, Tadcaster then scored 2 goals, meaning the end score was 2-1 to Tadcaster. This put QM as 2nd overall. - Emily Rand Martha C(IV)

Netball

QM Mavericks B vs York City Cannons
Score: Lost 39-57
POM: Miss Wilson
Tuesday evening saw QM Mavericks B travel to Fulford School for their only away game this season against York City Cannons. It was an evenly contested start from both teams. However, the B team's third quarter proved to be their Achilles' heel once again, as Cannons went into the last quarter with a big lead behind them.

Cross Country

English Schools Cross Country Cup
Results: Juniors - 5th, Intermediates - 2nd
A Junior and an Intermediate team were entered into this team competition. We headed with teams of 6 girls to Pocklington School to compete. The juniors did well in a tough field and were placed 5th overall, with Nattida (I) coming in 10th place, which was first for QM, and Eva (I) crossing the line in 19th place.

It was the Intermediate girls' turn next after the Junior Girls and Junior Boys. Another strong field, but our Intermediates were amongst it throughout. The place rankings of the first 4 runners get added up at the end, and the teams with the lowest scores are put at the top of the leaderboard. Emily (IV) came in 3rd, Emilia (III) was 5th, India (III) finished 6th, and Martha (IV) was 15th, putting QM in 2nd place overall. The top 2 teams qualify for the next round. The intermediate team will compete again on Saturday 9th November. Well done to all the runners in both the Intermediate and Junior teams on a great competition.

Netball

QM Mavericks A vs RI Eclipse
Score: Lost 22-55
POM: Tilly (UVI)
A chilly evening saw QM Mavericks A travel to York RI Sports Ground for their fixture against RI Eclipse. Despite the loss, the A team demonstrated excellent movement, passing, and support in all areas of the court. Just a shame they couldn't score more past a well-experienced RI team.
