Tennis: U18 Abedare Cup 1/4 Final v Ampleforth
Score: Lost 5-1
Report: Wednesday was a glorious sunny day for the Abedare Cup match vs Ampleforth. The LVI team of Elsa, Olivia, Tilly and Jess started with a game of singles which was the best of three sets; the third set being a match tiebreak with Tilly winning her singles.
Jess, Olivia and Elsa had long singles matches, with Elsa losing on a match tiebreak. The team was 3-1 down with the doubles to play, so they could still tie if they won both doubles matches and went into a tiebreak shootout.
After close games, Tilly and Jess lost in the third set match tiebreak 10-8, while Elsa and Olivia lost their doubles matches 6-4, 7-5.
There were tight margins throughout every match and we're looking forward to next year's competition.
Tennis: Play your way to Wimbledon, U14 Singles
Report: Queen Margaret's School is participating in this year's Play your way to Wimbledon competition. This is a nationwide event for tennis clubs and schools to provide more competitive opportunities for tennis players.
The competition starts at a school/club level and, if successful, players can earn places in county and regional finals before the national finals that will be played on the Wimbledon tennis courts.
Our Under 14 players have made a great start to this tournament with three matches completed. Congratulations to Bobble (II), Emily (II) & Louise (II) for their wins in their first match. All players in the draw will play a minimum of two matches.
It was great to see our students practising their skills in a friendly but competitive environment. Good luck with your next matches!
