Tough Training Session for Three Peaks Team
The second and final training walk for the Three Peaks Challenge took place last weekend in testing conditions – it was extremely hot. In fact it was so hot that the plan to walk up Pen-y-Ghent and then across the moors to Malham was abandoned in favour of a straightforward ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, still a good challenge in the heat.
The route to the top, 700 metres above sea level, was an enjoyable romp. It was made even better when Zoe North’s mum and dad surprised the group, not least Zoe, at the top with a welcome goodie bag. The views across to Ingleborough and Whernside (ones for the future) were stunning. The descent went well, and the ice cream at the bottom was greatly enjoyed. All the girls were up to the task and are looking good for the big challenge ahead.
The girls have each chosen their own charity to support through this challenge. You can see the list of who will benefit and make a donation through the Team’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/qmthreepeaks
