Lulu Comes To QM
Much excitement was in the air last Thursday as Lulu finally arrived for her very special event at QM. Fenwick of York had kindly arranged the visit and the School was the perfect setting. Lulu first spoke with the girls (and some very interested staff) in the Chapman Theatre. She spoke about her life and career, and how she became a star at 15 but still loved the music business after all this time. Her enthusiasm for music, life and her family shone out and inspired the girls. At the end of her talk they crowded onto the stage to chat to her one to one and take lots of selfies.
After the talk with the girls, Lulu moved through to St Margaret’s Chapel to meet the parents and friends of the School who had arrived for the afternoon event. Guests enjoyed a glass of Champagne on arrival and an amazing afternoon tea, which was prepared by the QM Catering Team and served by some of the UVI girls. Whilst the guests devoured a selection of sandwiches, seasonal savouries and plenty of sweet treats, Lulu talked about her career and her skin care range ‘Time Bomb’, and how this had been developed. After the fascinating talk about her motivations for developing the range, the audience were enthralled and couldn’t wait to ask questions. Lulu then spent an hour and a half visiting each table and speaking in depth with everyone about many different things, taking selfies and even singing with some of the audience.
Fenwick provided a stall selling ‘Time Bomb’ products and Lulu’s hairdresser of 30 years provided advice and new hair dos, Mrs Miles being a very enthusiastic participant! All in all it was a marvellous afternoon. Thanks must go to Fenwick, Time Bomb and all our staff and girls who helped. The biggest thanks are reserved for Lulu who gave so generously of her time to help us raise funds for the QM Foundation Bursary fund.
