Fun Song 2017

‘There’s nothing quite like it’ and ‘Are you ready?’ were the most popular words shared amongst the QM staff on Thursday. This could only mean one thing…Fun Song 2017 was looming. It’s not every day that you see air hostesses, Austin Powers and the Head Girl dressed in a horse onesie walking down the corridors, but it is quite the norm for Fun Song, the QM event that defies description.

Gathered in The Chapman Theatre, the House chants grew louder and louder until the first House took to the stage, this year it was St Aidan’s with St Trinian’s (Girls Aloud) and they set the bar high. Next up was Garry with Classic (MKTO) and as the volume levels continued to rise School House stepped up with their version of Air Hostess by Busted. At the half way point the audience were all divided as to which House should take this year’s crown. Duncan performed Jackson 5’s I Want You Back before Pitlochry took us back to the sixties with All Day and All of the Night (The Kinks). Hall finished up a fantastic evening with Cotton Eye Joe (RedNex).

Whilst the judging panel reached their verdict the audience were treated to what can only be described as a ‘thrilling’ performance from the QM staff who moonwalked their way through a Michael Jackson medley – who knew Mr Payton was such a dancer? Brilliant hosts Mr Lewis and Dr Horseman received confirmation from the judges and delivered the eagerly awaited results:

1st Place: St Aidan’s
2nd Place: Pitlochry
3rd Place: QM Hall
4th Place: Garry
5th Place: Duncan
6th Place: School
