Introducing the Deputy Head Girl (Charities), Shanzah Hayat

I’m Shanzah and my role is Deputy Head Girl (Charity). I joined QM in LVI so this will now be my second year here. Despite being a new student to the school, the QM community has always made me feel welcome, included and supported, which helped me to settle right in!

I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I also completed an Extended Project Qualification last year on Forensic Odontology. I particularly enjoyed this as I gained many valuable skills such as effective communication and referencing. It was also very interesting being able to delve into a topic of my own choice and to carry out independent research.

I am also very proud to be the cricket captain. Not only do I have a great love for the sport, but I also enjoy leading a team helping to make strategic decisions, whilst enjoying the thrill of the game. A particular sport I also enjoy is Omnikin. I had actually never heard of this before I came to QM but once I played, I found a new love for it.

I enjoy many aspects of QM but my favourite is certainly how integrated all year groups are. This is through house meetings, clubs, sports and many more activities!

With my role, I hope to involve the school community with various methods of fundraising and volunteering projects.
