Introducing the Deputy Head Girl (Wellbeing), Poppy Craven

Deputy Head Girl

QM is such a lovely and comfortable environment to live and work in. I feel very happy in my own skin and have most definitely gained a lot of confidence through my time here.

I'm Poppy, and I am proud to be the Deputy Head of Wellbeing at QM. I have been at QM for 6 years now, and am so pleased to be part of the QM family.

I am currently studying Geography, History of Art and English at A Level, which I thoroughly enjoy. One aspect of the school which I have always loved is the teaching. The teachers at QM are excellent and enthusiastic in every lesson. I feel very supported and inspired by my teachers to do my best. My subjects have allowed me to pursue my love for writing, which I hope to carry through into university by studying literature-based studies.

Outside of my lessons, I have a lot of fun playing in our first hockey team and Mavericks (a senior netball team). Sport is a part of QM where you’ll find great team spirit, fun and ambition. I love representing my school through sports and celebrating our successes amongst my peers. We have a lot of fun and camaraderie on the pitch and in training, which I absolutely love.

At QM, I have also gained an NPLQ lifeguarding qualification, allowing me to work as a lifeguard outside of school. The training was hard, but so worth it. I am now a fully trained first aider, which I believe is a vital skill to have throughout life.

I am so lucky to be surrounded by such lovely girls, QM is such a lovely and comfortable environment to live and work in. I feel very happy in my own skin and have most definitely gained a lot of confidence through my time here. I absolutely love being a weekly boarder at QM, the house mistresses make boarding life so homely. I have shared a lot of laughs and good chats with my house mistresses and peers in the boarding houses. Boarding at QM is very special, and I will cherish my boarding memories for life.

Through my role as Deputy Head Girl of Wellbeing, I wish to promote positive wellness around school, as well as to encourage girls to try new things from the vast opportunities we have in school and fulfil their aspirations.

Since taking on the role, I have and will continue to present talks to the school on the importance of maintaining good wellbeing, by giving tips and tricks on how to stay grounded during their busy and vibrant school life.

I am passionate about helping others and am an advocate for promoting positive wellbeing. I gain lots of pleasure through working and chatting with the girls. I also work alongside the wellbeing representatives of each year group, who help contribute ideas to the wellbeing side of QM, as well as turn our thoughts into actions amongst the school.
