An evening of musical performance

Soft Song 2022

Published 11th March 2022

On Thursday night, the Chapel was alive with the harmonies of Soft Song 2022. Each house gave a fantastic performance, and it was brilliant to see the whole school come together for this annual tradition.

While the evening is all about music and community, there is always a winner, and this year it was a joint win for QM Hall and Duncan. Well done to all who took part - it was another wonderful evening to remember!

5th Pitlochry - Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes). Edison Lighthouse.

4th School - Take Me Home. Jess Glynne.

3rd Garry - Everything Has Changed. Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

2nd St Aidan's - Yellow. Coldplay.

1st Duncan - Blinded By Your Grace. Stormzy.

1st QM Hall - Lose You to Love Me. Selena Gomez.

"It was a particularly moving and poignant evening as School House performed a song chosen by Issy, and the song was performed in her memory. The whole UVI then joined School House to sing one of the final choruses. My thanks to the Heads of House, House captains, and Dr Horseman, Mr Dearsley and Mr Hartley-Stevens for their hard work and support."

Miss Fiona Whittle, Enrichment Coordinator

Our guest judge for the evening was Lucy Bates. Lucy studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and works as a professional opera singer and singing teacher. Lucy has performed professionally for English National Opera at venues such as the Albert Hall.

Lucy's comments on the winning houses performances were-

QM Hall: "a striking sound, good choice of song and impressive breakout harmonies".

Duncan: "rap bravery, everyone felt the groove of the song and lovely warm tone".
