Student Newsletter
QM STARS Team Grows
Published 9th February 2022.
QM STARS, the monthly newsletter produced by QM girls for all students in Years I-III, has welcomed new members to its team of writers. Emily (Year IV) began the project at the start of last term, and the newsletter has been so well received by her fellow students in the younger years, that she has recruited other girls to help her create the next edition.
Emily tells us "QM STARS started in September 2021 as a way to celebrate the achievements and news of all girls in Years I, II and III. The next edition of QM STARS will be a little bit different because I invited girls from Years I, II and III to contribute and asked for some volunteers to join the team. Harriet (Year I), Sophie and Belle (Year II), and Lilly Rose (Year III), have all joined and are already working on articles and planning competitions ready for the next edition coming out at the end of February.
I chose to open up QM STARS to the girls in the lower years because I wanted to let them see what goes into making the newsletters, to get them even more involved, to add a new dimension of creativity and ideas, as well as giving them a great experience. I also want to thank Cindy (Year III) as she is our latest member and she is going to digitally design and create our magazine covers.
Our first competition, designed and planned by QM STARS writer Harriet (Year I), is to write a short story on the topic of twisted fairy tales. All entries have to be in by 24th February and will be judged by English teacher Mr Fairnington, for the chance to win a £10 WHSmith voucher."
To welcome the new writers and contributors to the QM STARS team, Emily made them welcome packs which contain sweets, a badge, and a personalised message which were decorated with the QM STARS logo, red ribbon and quotes. We can't wait to see the next edition girls!
