Lacrosse Success
Congratulations to the following girls who have been selected for the North Super Counties Lacrosse Squads!
U18 - Olivia Blythe and Elsa Scott
U15 - Izzy A, Isabel B, Freya F, Celia S and Isabel R.
These elite squads are created with the expert eyes of lacrosse scouts who attended the County championships. The strongest players from each county were chosen to represent the North and the Super Counties Lacrosse Tournament, so it's a huge achievement for our students to make these teams. Well done!
Monday 22/01/2024
Fixture: U15 2nd Round of Independent Schools Hockey Plate
Score: Lost 7-0
POM: Celia S (IV) & Amelia B (III)
Report: After numerous postponed attempts to play this match, we finally had the opportunity this Monday. Despite a rather sketchy 2-hour journey to Kirkham Grammar, the wind was unfortunately not in our favour. The QM side appeared rather rusty as we faced off against a slick Kirkham squad. The girls found their footing more in the second half, only allowing Kirkham to score 2 goals, keeping the overall score down. Some fantastic saves from Amelia kept the team in the game right until the final whistle. Well done to the 11 players for braving the weather and representing their school admirably.

Fixture: QM Mavericks B vs Sherburn Flyers
Score: Lost 35-42
POM: Miss Wilson
Report: The first of a double header of QM Mavericks fixtures this evening. The B team started well against the Sherburn Flyers, working hard to maintain possession and applying good defensive pressure. The first half was evenly contested, with both teams tied at 19-19. However, the Flyers managed to sneak ahead by four goals in the third quarter. Despite the B's valiant effort in the fourth, Flyers held on for the win. Unlucky Bs!
Fixture: QM Mavericks A vs Royal Fe-mails 1sts
Score: Won 36-30
POM: Miss Kirkup
Report: QM Mavericks A took the lead against Royal Fe-mails 1sts in the first quarter by three goals. Like the B’s game before, it was another evenly contested first half, with both teams tied at 17-17. After a slow third quarter, the As stepped up a gear in the fourth to seal the victory. Awesome finish!
