QM Live Dance Show 2022
Lights - Camera - Action
Published 17th February 2022
The QM girls took to the stage for the first live Dance Show in two years, and they were fantastic!
After navigating their way through Covid disruptions during the past two terms, and with no two rehearsals featuring the same group of dancers, it is a great credit that they came together and delivered a brilliant performance.
Whether they were performing or a part of the backstage crew, the girls all rose to the occasion. Huge congratulations to the girls, Miss Leadley and the Dance Department, and to Mr Schneider and his stage crew of students for the spectacular light show.
Also, great credit is given to our Lower Sixth Form photographers for assisting with the photography of this event - Daisy, Letty, and Zoe.
'Lights-Camera-Action' was a display of dance inspired by music from stage and screen.
"40 girls took to the stage and danced for two very excitable audiences. It has been two years since we have been able to perform in public, and although initially nervous, the dancers rose to the occasion and I think would have quite happily performed all week. They are certainly asking ‘when will we do this again’, which is super.
The show was varied with classical Ballet repertoire happily sitting next to contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and tap numbers. The theme was dance inspired by screen and stage.
What is safe to say is that the performances have inspired the dancers to do more and new girls to join the department. The Dance department looks forward to performing for you all again soon."
Alison Leadley, Head of Dance
The show featured group performances with music from The Greatest Showman, Amelie, The Nutcracker, The Bodyguard, Dance Club, Bad Girls, Hunger Games, and more.
There were also some beautiful solo numbers performed to music from A Star is Born, Sleeping Beauty, Hunger Games, and more.

Photography
Well done to our Lower Sixth Form photographers for assisting with the photography of this event - Daisy, Letty, and Zoe.
In addition to studying Photography at A Level, this was a fantastic chance to have their work used in a professional capacity.
Working in a challenging low-light environment, the event helped them learn about lighting and changing their camera manual settings.
