LTA Regional Finals (Year 9 & 10) Sunderland Tennis Centre
Score: Overall ranked 4th in the North Region and top 16 in the nation
On Thursday, November 9th, after an early start from school, our team arrived in Sunderland ready to compete in the LTA regional finals. Our first fixture against Bradford Grammar was a hard-fought contest, involving 4 singles and 2 doubles matches. Despite a tough loss against Bradford, our girls performed admirably against Polam Hall School in the 3rd and 4th play-offs. Considering some of our players are a year younger than their opponents, they held their own throughout the day. Most singles matches were closely contested with a high level of tennis played by both schools. This experience marked the biggest tennis event for the girls, and they showed maturity in their play. Miwa, Celia, Poppy, Isabel, and Olympe represented the school brilliantly. Well done, everyone!

York Schools - Cross Country Event - York Sports Village
Bronte B, Frances W, and Amanda L represented QM in the York Schools Cross Country Competition at York Sports Village on Thursday, November 16th. Despite the wet and cold November afternoon, with over 12 schools present, our girls, the smallest running team, finished the course in respectable times given the slippery and muddy terrain. Well done girls you did yourselves and QM proud for stepping up and for being willing to take part.
U13 3rd Round of Independent Schools Hockey Club vs RGS Newcastle
Score: Lost
POM: Maddie B, Louise B
The U13s had been preparing for this match since before the half-term break. Facing a tough opponent, the girls felt quite nervous. During the pleasant two-hour bus journey, we utilised the time to discuss tactics and gear up for the upcoming match. Unfortunately, the nerves and the reputation of the opposition overwhelmed QM, causing them to retreat, and allowing RGS to control most of the play. Despite the girls' persistent efforts to push back and restrain RGS, we couldn't keep up on this occasion. Nevertheless, a big well done to the team for getting through to this late stage in the competition, finishing 9th out of 66 teams across the nation.

1st XI Hockey vs Pocklington
Score: 1-0 Loss
POM: Imogen W
QM's 1st XI displayed an outstanding performance in Saturday's match. While Pocklington maintained the majority of possession, QM's defence remained resolute, thwarting every opportunity in the D. Imogen delivered an exceptional performance as GK, saving every shot directed at her and effectively guiding her defense, allowing QM's confidence and determination to soar. Despite Pocklington's repeated attempts, they managed to sneak one past from a remarkable short corner routine. A great performance was put in by the entire team.
2nd XI Hockey vs Pocklington
Score: 2-2 Draw
POM: Jemima P
The young 2nd XI gave their all during the Pocklington match on Saturday. Excellent passing and supportive play resulted in several goal-scoring opportunities and multiple short corners for the team. This led to two cracking goals from QM, which Pocklington came back to equalise. A great team performance from players who hadn't all played together before and a great achievement overall.

Senior Hockey vs Hymers 2nds
Score: 2-1 Loss
POM: Imogen W, Elsa S, Harriet W
The 1sts and 2nds combined this Wednesday to take on Hymers, allowing for a different mix of players each quarter and a great learning opportunity for some against a tough opposition. This match saw the most action in the D that QM had had in their matches so far, with Jennifer Foster making another star return in the forward line. This gamble paid off with her scoring the only goal from the QM side with a fantastic ball through the midfield from Daisy to Elsa who took on the keeper and slipped it left for Jennifer to finish it off. A great performance was had by Elsa, who had several cracking shots on target but the Hymers keeper was too quick for the QM attack. A big well done to our 2nds who haven't played in a while to step up and give the 1sts a run for their money.
