Raising funds for York Mind through the 5k Any Way Challenge
5K Any Way
The QM girls have been raising money for local charity, York Mind, by completing a ‘5k Any Way’ challenge devised by our Upper Sixth.
Last weekend the QM girls found some innovative ways to complete a '5K Any Way' challenge which was a great idea devised by our Upper Sixth.
Whether they were participating in their year group bubble at School or they were at home, the girls were all working towards a common goal of completing a distance of 5K in any way they chose to raise money for local charity, York Mind. A healthy body and a healthy mind are central to a QM education, which is why York Mind was chosen as the recipient of donations raised by the initiative. The charity delivers a range of projects to support young people who are experiencing difficulties with their emotional wellbeing - their young people’s counselling service provides a safe place for individuals to explore their feelings and the issues that are affecting their lives.
Over the course of the weekend, girls in all years faced the challenge with enthusiasm by running, walking, horse riding and even paddle boarding their way across the 5K finish line! Some girls worked together in relay and made the event an opportunity to work as a team. Whichever way they chose, their efforts paid off and they collectively raised £670 for York Mind.
