Riding lessons and livery at the QM Riding School
QM Riding School
The QM Riding School is ideally located on our campus. It has recently undergone a significant programme of improvement, including new roofing to the 25 stables and new fencing to the paddocks, and has subsequently been awarded a 5* rating in a council inspection.
Horse Riding Lessons at School
The Riding School offers lessons to QM students of all standards. Lessons cover all aspects of riding, groundwork and horse husbandry. Groups are small and beginners or nervous riders can be taught individually until they are confident enough to join a group. Hacking takes place on the beautiful adjacent Escrick Park Estate. Lessons can be taken individually (30 minutes), in pairs (40 minutes) or in groups (50 minutes) and will be scheduled to fit with academic timetables at the start of term. Hour-long Horse Husbandry lessons (non-ridden) are also available.
Riding School Livery
The Riding School is able to take a number of horses and ponies as full or working liveries during term time. Full livery includes hay, bedding, and a basic feed (any supplements, for example are extra), working livery is also available. Horses can be turned out every day. Girls are free to ride their own horses, providing their school work and other commitments are up to date and that a member of the Riding School staff is present on the yard. The ménage can be used for girls to ride providing there is not a lesson taking place (a schedule of these lessons will be available to show when the ménage is booked). Hacking is allowed but girls must be accompanied, either by another rider or a friend on foot, and only with parental permission. Girls must wear a hat, a body protector, a high visibility vest and carry a mobile phone when hacking. Girls are also advised to have the What3words app downloaded to their mobile device.

QM Riding School is a separate legal entity from the school but one with which there is close mutual cooperation. For convenience, the cost of lessons is added to your termly account by QM on behalf of the Riding School. The cost of livery is charged directly.
