Exceptional Music Results
QM’s results profile for ABRSM and Trinity practical examinations is outstanding.
Not only are the academic results for Music of an incredibly high standard, QM’s results profile for ABRSM and Trinity practical examinations is also outstanding. When a girl signs up to learn an instrument, they are also gaining access to a plethora of extra facilities and support that really makes Music at QM stand out from the crowd. If a student wishes to pursue musical graded examinations, they are privileged to have access to the School’s accompanist as a répétiteur in the weeks preceding examination. They benefit from rehearsing in the examination space and can also book in extra support for the Aural and Sight Singing components as required. In addition to this, weekly ABRSM Grade 5 theory classes are offered, as standard, to all students.
The scholarship programme at QM is designed to be a symbiotic relationship between Music Scholars and the Department. Both Choral and Music Scholars each receive an hours weekly tuition on their instrument and are assigned a personal scholarship mentor who will work with them and their tutors to ensure they are achieving their full potential. They will support girls over their full career at QM to ensure they have the performance opportunities, individual support and access to masterclasses and summer courses to achieve their very best. With a strong tradition of preparing students for the vocational study of classical music, recent alumni have gone on to win places at prestigious establishments such as the Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Birmingham University and University of York.
Former QM Student and Choral Scholar Izzie performed "Come Sing and Dance", which led her to be picked as reserve finalist for the BBC2 Young Chorister of the Year Competition. She is now reading Music at Durham University.
