The Chamber Choir gave two outstanding performances of Evensong this week - firstly in St Margaret's Chapel for the QM Family, followed by a visit to Durham Cathedral.
Director of Music Samantha Horseman told us more.
“I was immensely proud of our Chamber Choir this week. They have produced two beautiful services of Choral Evensong. The choir sang a bespoke arrangement of Richard Lloyd's King of Glory, King of Peace as their offered anthem - certainly their biggest technical challenge of the year so far, but they have risen to the demands of the piece and developed vocally through the process.
The clergy and staff at Durham Cathedral not only commended their professional conduct and behaviour but were thrilled with the calibre of singing they brought as a visiting choir. Durham Cathedral requires an audition recording before they accept a visiting choir applying to sing Choral Evensong, but we have been told that we are now welcome anytime, without audition - a real testament to the girls' hard work and quality sound.
I would also like to thank our parents who made the journey to Durham to support our girls, and who continue to share in our QM Family Services by attendance or with messages of good luck. The girls really appreciate being able to share their hard work in leading services through song with you all.”
