The week in sport
Sports Review

Read the latest sporting news from Queen Margaret's. This week: athletics, tennis fixtures vs Scarborough college, plus a horseriding update from Eve (Year IV).
Tuesday 17th May
ATHLETICS
JG 187pts, IG 202pts
Our first athletics fixture took place this Tuesday at the York Uni track.
The girls had been trying for the past few weeks to find which events they had a natural talent for and enjoyed the most. This practice then set them up well for the events on the day with some excellent efforts being put into the running and the field events.
A special mention must go to Hattie (Year III) and Elsa (Year IV) who came 2nd and 3rd in their 200m, and Grace (Year I) who came 2nd in her 100m.
Well done to all those who threw, with most of our Intermediate events having at least one girl who narrowly missed the medals coming in 4th. Some very competitive distances covered and several personal bests.
Well done also to both relay teams, especially the Junior relay team who came 3rd with a very impressive time of 62.2seconds; Celia (Year II), Issy (Year II), Freya (Year II) and Harriet (Year I).
Overall both teams came 5th out of 7 and full results can be found on the ESAA website.
Thursday 19th May
TENNIS: U15A & U13B vs Scarborough College
Players of the Day:
U15 A's - Elsa (Year IV), Olivia (Year IV), Ilaria (Year IV) and Anna (Year IV)
U13B's - Poppy (Year II), Amelie (Year II), Annabelle (Year II) and Camilla (Year II)
On Thursday we welcomed Scarborough College to play our U15A & U13B tennis teams in the LTA Youth Schools Team Tennis Competition.
Each team played matches comprised of four singles and two doubles matches. Both teams played very well in the very hot sunshine with a win for the U13B's and a loss for the U15A's.
These were our first singles matches for school for our U13 B team, and a great experience for the girls.
Well done all.
