Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award
DofE Bronze Expedition
Published 10th February 2022.
Seven Year IV girls did a seven-mile circular walking route from Colton on Sunday as part of their Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award. The purpose of the practice expedition was to put the girls' navigational skills to the test.
They were met with alternating periods of bright and still weather, followed by blowing gales and hailstones! However, the group got to practise their map reading and compass skills ready for next term's expeditions.
All students in Year IV are eligible to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award, which takes a minimum of six months to complete. When they reach LVI, girls can undertake the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, which takes a minimum of 18 months to complete.
This is a major challenge which can only be fulfilled with a great deal of perseverance and commitment.
