Funk and Soul Band New Year's Gig

The Lost Sock, Live!

Published 18th January 2022

Queen Margaret's Funk and Soul Band The Lost Sock kicked off 2022 with a New Year's Gig to remember!

They raised the roof last Friday evening, performing two back-to-back sets of live music to the whole school community and helping raise money for the Penrith & District Red Squirrel Group.

There was joy, laughter, singing, and dancing - including the added excitement of having the Funk and Soul Band reveal their new name, The Lost Sock, on stage.

Years I, II, and III deserve a special mention for forming a spontaneous conga-line during Rock Around the Clock...!

Mrs Baillie remarked that it was 'the best night out' she had had for many months, and a parent in the audience wrote afterwards to say: 'thank you so much for giving the girls such an amazing opportunity [...] the support from the whole school, including those in the audience, was simply wonderful [...] This is something that will stay with the girls for a very long time.'

Mr Hartley-Stevens would like to thank the girls in The Lost Sock for all of their hard work in putting on such a fantastic evening of music.

Here's to the next performance!

Here are some photos from the rehearsals and live performances.

All of these fantastic images were captured by QM's Art Prefect Allegra (UVI). Allegra is studying Fine Art and applying for Art Foundation courses in the future. We think she has perfectly captured the atmosphere of the live performances.

The audience had a great time!
