Wuthering Heights Theatre Trip

Published 25th November 2021

Last week, QM's Drama and English students visited York Theatre Royal to see a performance of Wuthering Heights.

Here's what Freya (Year V) had to say about the trip:

"Last Thursday we went to see Wuthering Heights at York Theatre Royal, directed by Emma Rice. Me and my friends thought that the modern adaption of the play was absolutely incredible. It really engaged us throughout the story with the use of physical theatre, music, and set design, whilst also staying true to the heart of the original story by Emily Brontë.

The plot was quite complicated at times, so we were all grateful to have read a programme beforehand to familiarize ourselves with the many intertwining relationships amongst the characters, whom we grew to find quite intriguing with quite a few, shocking and sudden deaths! However, a few of us agreed that the woman playing the Moor was the highlight of the show for us; she was a very mystical and loving character who could also be harsh at times, and her character was brought to life very well by the use of dance, song, and again by physical theatre.

But aside from the characters, I think a favorite from the trip was the ice cream in the interval! It was such an amazing trip and we’re all very thankful to Mrs Griffin and Mr Payton for taking us to see this play."
