Queen Margaret's Board of Governors. (Chairman of the Education Committee).
Clare Granger was educated at St Catherine’s School, Surrey and Godalming Sixth Form College. Thereafter she was amongst the first intake of women at Downing College, Cambridge where she read Law. Whilst at Downing, she rowed in the first ever Downing women’s boat. She qualified as a solicitor and worked in private practice in York. Following the births of her son and daughter she changed career and is now a professional artist and portrait painter. She has carried out numerous portrait commissions, including the portrait of a former Head of QM, Colin McGarrigle, which is now hanging in the School, and is represented by galleries in London and Oxford. She has served on various charitable committees and for ten years was treasurer of the North Yorkshire branch of the Art Fund. Clare’s daughter left QM in 2010.
