South Africa Sports Tour

During the summer holidays, 18 senior students set off with three members of the Sports Department for the trip of a lifetime to South Africa. Not only did the girls get the chance to make friends playing fixtures against other teams, they also got a wonderful experience of the country itself including wildlife, elephant feeding, safari, whale watching, penguins, day trips, culture, outreach, and more!

“We’ve had the most amazing experience out in South Africa for the Senior Sports Tour. All party members are still on a high and have wonderful memories to treasure for a lifetime; great friendships within the group, but also the opportunity to integrate with the teams we met and tell stories to each other from one culture to another. What an experience this was for all.

The ‘early bird catches the worm’ spirit ensured we saw and sampled all of South Africa’s wonders. Over a period of 10 days, from Cape Town to the Safari Game Lodge via Hummanus, for a once-in-a-lifetime whale watching experience of magicant humpback whales, then back to the vibrant but relaxed city that had it all - beach, mountains, colourful landscape, and the Southern Cross of stars in the moonlit sky.

Having arrived back in the beautiful surroundings of Escrick Park on Sunday morning, we still can't believe where we have been and what we have seen. What an adventure.” Trip leader Jill Rastall

Opro Gumshield Reminder

This is a reminder for parents of students in years I-IV and any senior hockey and/or lacrosse players. Both England Hockey and England Lacrosse recommend a dental-fit gum guard for players. Lacrosse players should avoid a clear or white gum guard as it must be clearly visible to the umpire.

Parents can order a self-fit kit online with Opro here - order form and discount code.
