Launch of Fundraising Appeal: QM Mobile Coffee Car
Two parents and long-time friends of the school, Guy Riall and Nick Blythe, have teamed up to lead a fundraising effort for QM’s first mobile coffee facility.
Their plan is to raise £5,000 in parental donations to buy a Smart car and convert it into our very own, student-operated coffee business that will serve parents and staff on match days and other key events at QM.
Guy, who has already found a car to purchase, has now issued a rallying call to QM parents; “If, like me, you are a parent who stands pitch-side on a rainy Saturday afternoon watching your daughters and wishing you had a warming a cup of coffee in your hand, then I would ask you to donate what you can so we can convert a car over the summer and make refreshments and snacks available to those watching sports and other events from September.”
Nick added “The initiative will enhance the comfort factor for us parents who brave QM in all weather, as well as hopefully enticing more people to come and cheer on their daughters who are putting in so much effort for their team and the school. Whilst parents will undoubtedly benefit from the increased hospitality that a student-run coffee operation will provide, it will also benefit our daughters in learning how to run a business; from customer service and product quality to purchasing supplies and managing a P&L. Offering students the opportunity to run a small enterprise is invaluable.”
The QM girls will be involved in the opportunity from the very start, when they will be asked to come up with a suitable name for the enterprise.
If you would like to support Guy and Nick by making a donation you can do so by completing the editable donation form at the link below and either dropping it at the main school reception or emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will keep you updated on their progress.
