Saturday 3rd December

Hockey U13 v Tranby & Ashville

Score: Lost 15-2

Player of the Match: Evie (II), Grace (II), Joy (II), Harriet (II)

Tough matches for the U13s A and B teams with some decent attacking play. Despite heading for the goal at speed, QM was unable to convert their chances. The A team lost both their matches whilst the B team drew one and lost one. Super defensive work by everyone and especially to Amelia for being goalie for both teams.

Hockey U15 v Tranby & Ashville

Score: 3-0

Player of the Match: Olivia (IV), Hattie (IV), Isabel (III)and Poppy (III)

On Saturday, a mixed team of U15s and U14s went away to Tranby for our last match of the season. An amazing 3-0 win made a great end to the season! Well done to Olivia who was the Player of the Match, and the Player'sPlayers, - Isabel, Poppy and Hattie. Thanks for an amazing season!

1st Hockey v Nottingham

Score: 1-0

Player of the Match: Alex (LVI)

Today was a tough match against Nottingham High with a few strong players infiltrating our defence in the first quarter. Luckily we managed to prevent any goals from being scored, despite some messier play. In the second quarter, we got more into the swing and our attack worked hard towards scoring our first goal, fortunately, it came from an amazing strike on Flo S’ reverse.

In the second half, we were more disciplined and worked to use our structure to our advantage - meaning we calmed our play down and therefore were able to use the space more effectively. The defence was strong throughout with some brilliant efforts from Harriet, Flo L-T, Jennifer and Olivia. Pippa did an amazing job stepping up very deservingly from the seconds to be goalie and made some difficult saves. Luckily, we managed to keep any goals from being scored which secured us a well-deserved win!

Tuesday 6th December

House Hockey

It was fantastic to have House Hockey back in the final week of term. The teams were out in full force with some competitive hockey taking place.

The cold night finished with a nail-biter between St Aidan's and Pitlochry with a final goal from St Aidan's in the last 30 seconds giving them the 1st place position.

Pitlochry was 2nd, School placed 3rd, Duncan and QM Hall came joint 4th, and Garry 5th.

Well done to everybody who took part!

Wednesday 7th December

Hockey v Rishworth

Score: 6-0 W

After a great staff vs students hockey match, the UVI was buzzing with Christmas excitement for their final match of the season. The girls enjoyed having a go at playing new positions. Some lovely short corners and feeds into the circle allowed for some cracking goals from our forward line. Well done to all who have played in Senior hockey teams this season - you have done yourselves proud and improved so much since September. It has been a pleasure to coach the 1sts this year and well done to all the UVI who have worked their socks off!

Mavericks B v Royal Femails 3rds

Score Lost

Player of the Match: Grace

With a few last-minute drop outs due to illness and injury, Mavericks B went to court with only 6 players. The Bs knew a loss would be on the cards, however, they still played with gusto and supported each other immensely. A brave performance to end this half the season.

Staff v Students Hockey

2-0 to Staff

Player of the Match: Mr Payton & Mr Allison

It was a nice sunny day on the Astro for the highlight of the year. Both teams started strong and it was a very competitive match. Some short corners on both sides added to the suspense but no goals on either end.

Finally, Miss Cheng was able to pass the ball across the goal to Mr Allison who smashed it into the back of the net. But the staff didn't stop there; Mr Payton had a great sprint up the field and crossed the ball into the D for Mrs Burton to slide it past Pippa Cochran and give the dream team a comfortable lead. Well done to all who played!

Thursday 8th December

Mavericks A v Royal Femails 2nds

Score Won 46-43

Player of the Match: Jen

Leading up to the fixture, Mavericks A were second in the table and RFM 2 were third, so this last game of the first half of the season was sure to be a battle of all battles.

After a high-scoring first quarter with the As trailing 12-14, it was going to be a tight game. The next two quarters followed suit with only a few goals separating both sides before the As secured the win by three goals. What a superb competitive game!
