Summer Concert 2022 & Durham Cathedral Evensong

The Music Department has been extremely busy this May with three major musical performances.
Summer Concert
Today was the annual summer music concert. It was wonderful see this musical event in person, and a fantastic send-off to students and parents before the Leave Out weekend.
We were entertained by students of all ages, from all our Year I and II girls singing in Cantiamo, to our Senior Orchestra, Percussion Group, Chamber Choir, Wind Band, String Quartet, and QM's Funk and Soul Band - ‘The Lost Sock’.
Dr Horseman added, "both myself and the entire Music team are thrilled with this year’s Summer Concert. The girls have been a true privilege to work with, and the whole event could not have happened without our team of superb music staff. It’s been an emotional and uplifting week hearing Chapel filled with live music and seeing the joy that making music together brings our girls."
Evensong
Sunday 1st May was our Choral Evensong service in Chapel, followed the very next day with another Evensong at Durham Cathedral - one of the most beautiful settings in the country in which to sing this historic service.
The Chamber Choir performed Forth in The Name - written especially for the Queen Margaret's Chamber Choir by the late Richard Shepherd - and Sumsion's atmospheric setting of Canticles.
This performance was the culmination of so much hard work and progress demonstrated by our girls this year.
