Lacrosse Success at National Championships

Last week, QM’s lacrosse teams put on outstanding performances at the National Schools’ Lacrosse Championships.

The U18 squad battled through a tough competition on Saturday, securing Silver in Division 2, while the U14 team made their mark on Tuesday, reaching the last 16 in Division 1 in their first appearance at the tournament. Both teams showed incredible determination, teamwork, and skill on the national stage.

"On Monday, the U13s played in a tournament at Joseph Rowntree School. We all tried our hardest, using teamwork while also having fun. We started with our first match against Manor, and although we lost 6-1, we stayed positive and kept pushing. In our second match against Brayton, we narrowly lost 1-0, but we remained determined. Our hard work paid off when we won 3-1 against Joseph Rowntree, which boosted our confidence. Next, we faced Bootham, one of the strongest teams. We gave it our all, using good communication, but lost 7-0. Our final game was against Millthorpe, and despite battling against freezing winds and exhaustion, we put in every last bit of effort but lost 7-0. After all our hard work, we finished 4th out of 6 in our pool. Well done to everyone who played!"

NetballU14 York and District Netball Tournament
Result: 5th place
Players of the Match: Akosua E and Emilia R
Players' Player: Bobble-Bobble P

Well done to the Year III netballers who took part in the round-robin York and District Netball Tournament at Joseph Rowntree. With 11 teams competing, the girls played 10 intense, 10-minute matches with only two-minute breaks between games.

They performed well in most matches, despite some slippery areas on the court making play challenging. With five wins and five losses, they finished joint 4th overall on points but ultimately placed 5th on goal difference—an impressive achievement in a tough tournament. Congratulations to all the girls involved and to our Players of the Tournament!
