Netball: 1st VII vs Archbishop Holgate School
Won 33-14
POM: Freya F (Year V)
Report: On Wednesday 29th January, the 1st netball team travelled to Archbishop Holgate School in York for a league match. The first half determined the outcome of the game, where we secured a solid lead with a score of 21-7. There were some excellent shots from the attack, with the team managing to move the ball around an extremely tall defender. There were also some impressive interceptions throughout the court. In the second half, we experimented with new combinations, bringing the Year V players into different positions. The final score was 33-14. It was a really positive performance, although there are several areas to work on moving forward.

Netball: QM Mavericks B vs York City Cannons
Lost 71-45
POM: Ruth
Report: QM Mavericks B faced league leaders York City Cannons for the third and final time this season. Despite showing a decent effort throughout the game, the B team couldn’t find their winning form. Several mistakes allowed the Cannons to capitalise on opportunities and race ahead for an emphatic victory.

Thursday 30th January 2025
Netball: U15 vs Fulford
Won 20-5
POM: Ildiko V (Year IV)
Report: On Thursday, the U15s played their first netball match of the year against Fulford School. With a strong team performance, we quickly built a commanding lead. The whole team made some fantastic interceptions, and there were some excellent shots from shooters Grace and Izzy. During the final third, both teams became a bit rushed, but we continued to extend our lead, showing great movement down the court. Overall, it was an enjoyable match, with QM emerging victorious, winning 20-5. Special mention to Ildiko, who was named Player of the Match for her exceptional interceptions as the goalkeeper. This was her first-ever netball match, and considering she only began playing this year after joining us from Germany, she certainly impressed!
