FEI World Endurance Success
On September 7th, Isabella S (Year V) finished in an amazing 16th place out of a field of 118 competitors at the FEI World Endurance Championship (160km) in Monpazier, France.
Isabella told us:
"Not only was I the first to cross the finish line for the Chinese team, but my result also contributed to the team's achievements, being counted among the top three. Our team, brimming with spirit, secured a well-deserved second place out of 39 participating countries. Despite the challenging weather conditions – with pouring rain and lightning greeting us at the start at 5:30 AM in the pitch darkness – we persevered, showcasing our determination and resilience.
For this race, I was fortunate to team up with my horse Eiwa de Bozouls, an exceptional competitor who has completed every race she has ever participated in throughout her career."

Show Jumping – 95cm Martha and Gucci continued their strong form, finishing in 5th place and earning another qualification for the National Championships.
Show Jumping – 1.05m In the 1.05m category, Martha and Gucci once again excelled, placing 4th and securing yet another spot at the National Championships.
In addition, Frances W competed in the 95cm Show Jumping and completed a fantastic round, with just one pole down.

Sunday, 15th September 2024 - Davis Cup Trip
"On Sunday, we watched the Davis Cup at the Manchester AO Arena. Known as the ‘World Cup of Tennis,’ the Davis Cup saw four countries compete across the week at the Manchester venue. We had tickets for Sunday’s match between Great Britain and Canada. The order of play was two singles and one doubles match, starting from 1pm.
To qualify from the group of four countries, Great Britain needed to finish in the top two to reach the finals in Malaga, scheduled for the end of November 2024. Going into the Sunday tie, Great Britain had to win both singles and the doubles—a very tough task. We had 17 tickets (3 staff and 14 students), with a view from Block 208 in the arena.
We watched Denis Shapovalov (#101) vs Dan Evans (#177) (GB lost 6-0, 7-5), Felix Auger-Aliassime (#21) vs Jack Draper (#20) (GB lost 7-6 (10-8), 7-5), and Gabriel Diallo (#104) & Alexis Galarneau (#218) vs Henry Patten (#17) & Neal Skupski (#19) (GB won 7-6 (7-4), 6-4). Everyone enjoyed the amazing atmosphere, created by the fans, music, lights, and the Barmy Army with their brass band!
Despite GB not qualifying for the finals, the chance to see world-class tennis live, so close to home, was a memorable experience. Thank you to Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. Costa, Mrs. Rastall, and Miss Hagan for organizing and running the trip.
