LAMDA Drama Showcase Evening
LAMDA Showcase
Published 21st March 2024
Last night, the Drama department hosted its inaugural LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) Showcase, featuring a vast array of talent from our many students who undertake this qualification.
Having just completed their LAMDA exams following a year of hard work, the students from all age groups took to the stage and enthralled an appreciative audience of students, staff, and parents. The girls presented an eclectic mix of material, from solo presentations to monologues, duos and group performances, supported only with basic props and costumes.
We wish our girls the best of luck as they await their LAMDA exam results, following the exceptional 2023 LAMDA exam results.
Mrs Lavell commented:
"After two days of LAMDA examinations, we celebrated with Queen Margaret’s first-ever LAMDA showcase featuring a wonderful variety of presentations and performances.
The evening began with two informative and engaging public speaking speeches, preceding many dynamic and entertaining theatrical performances. We experienced captivating and powerful monologues, comedic duologues and an entertaining group recital full of physical theatre and choral speaking.
Each performer brought an individual interpretation to their piece which kept the audience engaged and entertained.
I would like to congratulate all of the pupils on their performances. Their professionalism was second to none, and their performances were moving, funny, shocking, and ultimately amazing.
I would like to thank the Drama and Dance staff for their unwavering support throughout the exam process and during the showcase. A special thank you must go out to Mr. Schneider who, through his technical wizardry in lighting and sound, always makes the pupils shine fully on stage and creates the perfect atmosphere for each piece.
We are truly thankful to our fantastic audience of family and friends whose support encouraged and uplifted the students.
