Student Exchange Programme

This summer, two of our students embarked on an exciting month-long trip to Chile to stay with families, attend school, and experience the culture.

This summer we went to Chile for an exchange programme. It was an incredible experience, and we have made so many unforgettable memories.

We started our trip by visiting the North of Chile, where we stayed in San Pedro de Atacama. We were able to experience so many different things such as the sea of salt, the hot springs, geysers and the overall impressive landscape. We managed to capture so many moments on camera which now seem mind blowing.

We then headed to our host families, who were based in Concon. We both instantly connected with our families, and it really felt like ‘a perfect fit’. We attended St Margaret's school, where we were able to experience Chilean culture and form lifelong friendships. We had the opportunity to visit many different places such as Valparaiso, Santiago, La Isla Negra and Vina del Mar. One of our highlights was being able to try as well as make loads of different Chilean cuisines.

Whilst at school, we were able to participate in the annual ‘school week’ which included dancing, art, music and sport as well as experiencing ‘CAS’ which provided us with the opportunity to visit local nurseries and interact with young children. We had frequent spanish lessons which aided us in improving both our spanish speaking and listening skills which we are now putting into practice in a final year of Spanish A-level.

Our Chilean exchange students are now here at QM with us for a month and we can't wait to share our culture with them. We both have become extremely close with Rocio and Camila, and we will be so sad to see them leave. It has been a once in a lifetime opportunity that neither of us will forget.

QM will launch the 2025 Chilean Exchange before half term. Any Year V and LVI Spanish learners who wish to join the program next year, please email Ms Gong (tgong@queenmargarets.com) to express your interest.
