U18 National Champion Beaty Selected for European Championships

Following on from her incredible performance earlier in the year which led to being crowned the U18 National Champion, recent leaver Sophie Beaty has been selected for the European Junior team.

Following a skillful performance at the final team selection trial at Aston Le Walls Horse Trials (Daventry, 8 August), Beaty has been added to the impressive team sponsored by Hows Racesafe.

This incredible accomplishment means the young rider will compete at the 2013 FEI Junior European Championships at Haras de Jardy France on 12-15 September to defend the team and individual gold titles as well as individual silver.

Ginnie Keen, who serves as the Chairman of Junior Selectors, praised Beaty for her dedication to the sport, saying,

“It is lovely to have Sophie on the team, she has been an incredible asset to the British Pony team previously and is a fantastically talented team player with a very good string of horses.”

Sophie has been selected on multiple horses, including Stanly, Navigator and Pink Gin. Along with the selectors, Sophie will decide later this month which horse will make the journey to Jardy.

Sophie follows in the footsteps of fellow recent leaver Bella Innes Ker who was crowned U18 National Champion last year before moving on to compete on the European Junior team.

Best of luck to Sophie as she prepares for this incredible opportunity!
