Isabella longlisted for Tower Poetry Competition

Congratulations to Isabella Sharp, UVI, whose poem was longlisted in the Tower Poetry Competition 2017.Isabella tells us “I entered the Tower Poetry competition a few months ago, which is one of the few poetry competitions aimed at young adults. It’s quite difficult to get noticed when your work is up against writers aged thirty and above, so I thought I would enter and see what happened. I also liked the fact they set a theme, ‘stone’, which was a challenge to the imagination. I was lucky enough to be longlisted in 50 out of around 1000 applicants, and I would definitely enter again. Tower Poetry are a great organisation who try and foster young writers, so I would recommend it to anyone who writes. My poem was themed around iconography of the Virgin Mary in Catholicism.”
