Countdown to Speech Day 2017

The countdown to Speech Day is on and it promises to be yet another truly memorable event. Guests attending this very special occasion, on Saturday 8 July, will join girls and staff to celebrate the successes and achievements of the last academic year at QM as we bid farewell to the UVI leavers.

As well as a day of celebration and prize giving, some of the girls’ best work will be on display in the form of an Art Exhibition and a Music Concert. We are also delighted that our guest of honour at Speech Day this year will be Sophie Jewett, Founder and Managing Director of York Cocoa House.

York Cocoa House is a business born out of Sophie’s fascination for chocolate. Arriving in York to study, Sophie was struck by how much the city smelled of chocolate and sugar, but it was an industry no longer celebrated in York. Following further work and study in business, hospitality and PR, Sophie started a life dedicated to chocolate in 2008, crafting her dream chocolate business. Today York Cocoa House is establishing direct, fair trade routes with farmers in growing communities to bring traditional chocolate making back to York. In 2013 the business won the support of Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden and in 2015 Sophie was named IoD Yorkshire Young Director of the Year. Sophie is passionate about supporting innovative entrepreneurs to collaborate, start and grow businesses in our communities and her presence at Speech Day is sure to inspire the QM girls.

Any parents or friends of the School who have yet to book their tickets for Speech Day are encouraged to do so as soon as possible by emailing
