QM on the doorstep of ‘The Best Place to Live in the UK’
QM is now officially on the doorstep of ‘The Best Place to Live in the UK’ with York topping The Sunday Times list for 2018.
York’s combination of medieval architecture, cultural offer and general quality of life helped it claim top spot in this annual national survey. Whilst its name evokes the distant past, York’s modern mindset and investment in digital infrastructure led to it being named by The Sunday Times as the best place to live in Britain. Traditionally recognised for its medieval architecture, gothic York Minster and museums such as The Jorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum, York came out on top, partly in recognition of the city’s pioneering technology, varied cultural offer and artisan food scene.
The 2018 Best Places to Live in Britain survey selects 106 locations on measures such as life expectancy, school performance, green space, culture, food quality, transport links, community spirit and that hard-to-define ‘little bit extra’.
