LVI Community Weekend

QM Community Weekend

Last weekend saw the first QM Community Weekend of 2020 take place and it was down the the LVI girls to plan the activities on offer. After a long Christmas break the Community Weekend really gave the girls time to reconnect and have some fun.The Year I and II girls kick started their weekend with an in house MasterChef competition which was to be judged by Mrs Baillie – no pressure girls! They gave us their account….“All week in our dorms we were busy planning our recipes! After lessons we made our menus and chose our ingredients before writing our shopping lists and heading to Tescos…one of our favourite places to go! We were all told that it would be a friendly competition and to try not to poison Mrs Baillie! We started cooking and with food flying everywhere it looked a bit like the real MasterChef. We all had our ups and downs when it came to baking under pressure but in the end each dorm made three fabulous meals. The overall winner was Nidderdale, for the quality of taste in all dishes. Best dish went to Rosedale, well done to Emilia Bradley (Year I) for her haggis and chicken starter. Eskdale was commended for technical difficulty and courage, thanks to Imogen McIntosh (Year II) and her amazing Japanese cheesecake. Mrs Baillie had such a difficult task as she said there were spectacular brownies, tasty carbonara, wonderfully smooth mashed potato, a great balance of flavours in the pork and that the chocolate mousse was yummy!”
Meanwhile, the other year groups were enjoying their Community Weekend activities just as much. Years III and IV soaked up some local culture and did a spot of shopping in York, and had a great Bingo night. Relaxation was the order of the day for the Year V girls, who were completing their mock examinations, so an in house breakfast and afternoon tea was just the ticket. The LVI girls enjoyed a very sophisticated afternoon tea at The Parsonage Hotel. The UVI girls were also happy with an evening of great food and great company as they had a well-deserved Thai night after their mock examinations.
