National Youth Choir Success for Olivia

Our warmest congratulations go to QM Choral Scholar, Olivia Hamilton (LVI) who has been successful in securing a place in the National Youth Choir. Olivia shares her exciting news; “I auditioned for the National Youth Choir (NYC) of Great Britain at Leeds College of Music and I have received the exciting news that my application has been successful. The audition lasted 15 minutes and consisted of singing accompanied and unaccompanied pieces, musicianship/theory tests and an interview. Being a part of NYC will give me the opportunity to sing in concerts in venues across the UK following training courses throughout the year. I am really looking forward to taking part in what I am sure will be an amazing experience with singers from all over the country. This will be good practice for university auditions as I hope to read Music in the near future.”

QM’s Director of Music, Dr Sam Horseman, commended Olivia’s hard work; “Having worked with Olivia during her audition preparation, I can testify that this wonderful outcome really is the result of dedication, musicality and a love for her chosen vocation. The panel quite rightly commended her ‘lovely and clear tone’ in their feedback and this will be a fantastic springboard for Olivia going forward.”
